Alcohol and Drugs
Are you or is someone you know affected by alcohol or drug misuse? At Deltassist we are here to help, we offer counselling to any person directly or indirectly affected by a substance misuse problem.
This service is for individuals, couples, families, youth, seniors and groups. It includes treatment, education and prevention components.
If coming in to our offices for help is a barrier to services then outreach services are also available for seniors and youth.
Substance Use Services
Age: No age requirements
Referral source: Individuals must self-refer
Outreach services provided on a case by case basis
Admission criteria:
- Is experiencing a problem with alcohol or drugs, or is impacted by another’s substance use
- Has Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, either diagnosed or suspected
Services provided:
- Individual, couple, or family therapy
- Education via The Substance Use Education Group
Substance Use Education Group
The Substance Use Education group is an open drop-in group for adults who have substance use issues themselves, or who are being affected by someone else’s substance use.
This is an 8 week program for adults 19 years and older whose lives have been affected by substance use, their own or another person’s.
Topics:
Week one: Problem use and addiction
Week two: Substances and their effects
Week three: Effects on relationships
Week four: Relapse prevention
Week five: Recovery and the stages of change
Week six: Stress management

Children are People Too
Age: 9 to 16 years old
Referral: No special referral requirements
Description: CAPT is a 7 week support group for children who are struggling to deal with a parent’s drug or alcohol use. Kids must be aware about the adult’s substance use.
