Deltassist is excited to offer the following supports to our South Asian Community over the coming months.
Information and Support line
Deltassist is pleased to offer our Substance Use Information and Support Line for Delta’s South Asian Community. This access line is available Monday to Friday between 10-11am for individuals looking to get more information about substance use related issues or topics, resources in the community or short-term counselling options.
Who Will Answer Your Call?
Ram will be there on the line with you as part of Deltassist’s Substance Use Counselling Team. He has completed his Master’s Degree in Social Psychology and is registered as a Canadian Certified Addiction Counselor (C.C.A.C) with the CACCF (Canadian Addiction Counselors Certification Federation). He has worked as a counsellor for the last six years with adults and youth who struggle with substance use, concurrent disorders, anger issues, and mental health issues.
What Languages Are Available?
The call can be offered in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Nepali and Bhutanese.

Online Substance Use Groups
Starting in March 2021, Deltassist will be running two Free Online Substance Use Groups for individuals using substances and/or who are affected by someone else’s substance use. Our group will cover the following topics:
- Problem use and addiction
- Substances and their effects
- Effects on relationships
- Relapse prevention
- Recovery and the stages of change
- Stress management
Dates and Times:
Thursday evenings from 6-7pm starting March 4th until March 25th, 2021 or
Saturday mornings from 11-noon starting March 6th until March 27th, 2021
