"Better at Home" Services

If you would are 65+ and would like support to remain independently at home and stay connected with your community, you can take advantage of the province-wide Better at Home program which is funded by the Government of BC and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland.  Deltassist is the Better at Home service provider for all Delta seniors.

Aging in Place with Dignity

Through Better at Home, Deltassist can help you age in place with dignity, stay socially connected, and reduce social isolation. We recognize that seniors are an important and growing part of our community and aim to help you with day-to-day tasks.

Through this program, you have access to a range of non-medical home support services. Some of these services have fees; the fees are on a sliding scale based on your income.

Light House Keeping (Fee for service)

Housekeeping services are delivered by Seaside Home Care Services and Just Like Family Home Care. As a senior, you can have up to two hours of subsidized services per month based on a sliding scale relative to your own (single) or household income.  More appointments can be arranged at full cost.

You must provide the cleaning supplies. Housekeeping may include vacuuming, washing dishes, cleaning counters, mopping floors, changing linens, and cleaning the bathtub.

Basic Yard Work (Fee for service)

Basic yard work may include mowing, seasonal yard cleanup, and shrub trimming.

Minor Home Repairs (Fee for service)

Minor home repairs are approved on a case by case basis. These may include hanging up photos, changing light bulbs, refastening a cabinet door, removing nails from a wall, hanging a hose holder or other small, non-cosmetic tasks. These services may be provided by contracted service providers or by volunteers.

Services may not include painting walls, electrical or plumbing related tasks or any installation of home accessibility adaptation such as grab bars.

Rides to Medical Appointments (Fee for service)

Volunteers are available to drive you to medical appointments if you do not have any other means of transportation (such as HandyDART, friends or family). The cost for this service covers the mileage costs the volunteer driver incurs and is based on the distance of the trip. You must pay any parking fees.

Phone Shopping for Seniors

Do you have a disability that prevents you from doing your own grocery shopping? Deltassist’s phone shopping program can help with this.

This program uses the Sunshine Hills Safeway and the Tsawwassen Save On Foods. Both of these grocery stores offer delivery service.
