As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, Deltassist is wanting to ensure the well-being of our community, clients, volunteers and staff. As a result, we have the following changes, cancellations or limitations to programs and services.
Access to Deltassist offices
As of March 23 both of Deltassist’s offices are still open but the office doors will be locked during business hours. Our offices can be accessed by the following:
- North Delta office – staff can be reached by buzzing us or phoning (604-594-3455) us when you are there.
- Ladner office – staff can be reached by phoning (604-946-9526) us when you are there.
Shopping for Seniors (that are housebound)
As access to shopping and increased safety measures have been placed at stores our Shop and Drop program will be wrapping up as of August 20, 2020. Our regular seniors phone shopping program is at capacity at this time but we are working to increase capacity with the addition of new volunteers. If you would like to be put on the waiting list for this program please call us at 604-946-9526.
Staying connected with seniors
All in house programs for seniors through Better at Home have been restarted. In addition we have increased the number of seniors receiving weekly wellness calls.
North Delta Food Bank
Deltassist stepped forward to run the North Delta food bank back in April. We are very proud of all of the staff and volunteers that made this so successfully and the wonderful job they have done. We were able to incorporate the harvest from our community garden each week as produce was ready, we had our bread program and donations from local community partners that we were able to distribute weekly such as fresh eggs.
That being said the North Delta food bank will be moving back to its original location at the North Side Church on 84th ave. on August 12th. August 5th was our last food bank day at Deltassist.
During these exceedingly challenging times, Deltassist has committed to continue to support the community of Delta through our counselling services. In order to do this while maintaining the safety, health and well-being of our staff, our agency has made the decision to temporarily suspend in-person services and we are happy to provide virtual (phone and online) counselling to our clients. Our services are available Monday to Friday from 9-4:30pm.

Generalized Counselling During COVID-19
Our Counselling Team is now offering up to six (6) free phone or online counselling sessions, for individuals, families and/or couples who live in Delta.
If you wish to access this service, please call our General Intake Line at 604-594-3455 ext. 136.
One of our counsellors will return your call within 1-2 business days.
Stopping the Violence Program
If you or someone you know who is experiencing relationship violence, our counselling team is available to provide over the phone or online support, advocacy and safety planning. This program is available for individuals 19 years and older.

Substance Use Program
We offer phone or online counselling to any person directly or indirectly affected by a substance use problem. This service is for individuals, couples, families, youth and seniors. We provide counselling as well as treatment referrals when needed.

If necessary we can arrange an in person intake for new clients for the Substance Use Program. Please call ahead, we will be happy to assist you.
Suicide Prevention Program
We are currently offering phone or online short-term counselling sessions to youth (under 19), who might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and sad or even having suicidal thoughts during this challenging time.
If you or someone you know, is struggling, give our Suicide Prevention Team a call at

Our counsellors will return your call within 1 business day.
If you or someone you know is at serious risk of attempting suicide call 9-1-1.

Deltassist will be providing group services via Zoom and individual services through a confidential online platforms.
Income tax program
We are doing income taxes by appointment only. (Contact free) this means you will fill out a questionnaire and add it to your income tax papers. You can make arrangements to drop off your income tax papers at either our North Delta or Ladner offices by call ahead. When your income taxes are completed you will be called to pick them up.

Weekly bread Program
We are still receiving fresh bread every week and it is available daily at our North Delta office. (self serve) Although we have bread at our office we will not be distributing bread throughout Delta until further notice.

As we are a human services agency, we will continue to provide essential services.We understand that these measures may seem extreme, but we are doing everything we can to slow down the spread of the virus and keep our community safe
