Deltassist Manager of Grants / Assistant to the Executive Director

This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Description: This position is two-fold: searching for and applying for appropriate grants, managing the grant process, the deliverables and accompanying financial reporting for all grants and carrying out the duties of an Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. In addition, participating as a member of the agency’s Management & Planning Team; and working collaboratively with Management to achieve established agency goals.

The Manager of Grants/Executive Assistant has specific training and experience with the following:

  • Understanding of nonprofits and the grant application process.
  • Experience with management of grants, including the financial management of grants.
  • Experience with researching appropriate grants for underfunded or unfunded programs and services
  • Previous experience as an Executive Assistant.
  • Some post-secondary education in Administration, Business Management or similar.
  • Experience in general office procedures, and working knowledge of community not-for-profit and charitable organizations; experience as a manager in a unionized setting is particularly beneficial.
  • Thorough knowledge of local community service groups and organizations, and
    provincial welfare and financial assistance services.
  • Proficiency in the use of current business software applications including word
    processing, publishing, public presentation, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

The Manager Grants/Executive Assistant is expected to engage in the following activities:

  • Research and propose to the Management and Planning team appropriate grants.
  • Write and assist with writing grants, including revising of grants and following up on submissions.
  • Manage all grants.
  • Produce financial reports for all grants.
  • Management of files, paperwork and administration projects for the Executive Director.
  • Participate in Performance Quality Improvement.
  • Work well in a union environment.
  • Actively participate in agency meetings, take minutes and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required by Executive Director.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent verbal, written and word processing skills.
  • Maintain accuracy and a high level of quality output.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software.


  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR is an asset.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

Job Type: Part-time 28 hours per week

Salary: From up to $30 per hour based on experience.
