Wage/Salary: Starting at $28 per hour

Reports to: Julie Chadwick, Executive Director
Description: Within this role, you will be acting as the Assistant Manager to the current management team at Deltassist Family and Community Services Society. You will be supporting the team with special projects, assisting the Executive Director, researching for grants, applying for, managing and reporting on grants, as well as other duties assigned, such as assisting with Human Resources. In addition, you will participate as a member of the agency’s Management & Planning Team; and work collaboratively with Management to achieve established agency goals.
Deltassist is a mission driven, community-based, non-profit society and the incumbent in this position must be able to commit to the Mission and Values of the Society.
The Assistant Manager should have specific training and experience with the following:
- Understanding of nonprofits and the grant application process. Experience with management of grants, including the financial management of grants. Experience with researching appropriate grants for underfunded or unfunded programs and services.
- Previous experience as a manager or supervisor, preferably in a unionized environment
- Some post-secondary education in Administration, Business Management or similar.
- Experience in general office procedures and working knowledge of community not-for-profit and charitable organizations.
- Thorough knowledge of local community service groups and organizations, and provincial welfare and financial assistance services.
- Proficiency in the use of current business software, preferably Microsoft Office software.
- Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
The Assistant Manager is expected to engage in the following activities:
- As part of the Management team support the current management team with special projects and workloads.
- Research and propose to the Management and Planning team appropriate grants. Write and assist with writing grants, including revising of grants and following up on submissions. Manage all grants and produce financial reports for all grants
- Management of files, paperwork and administration projects for the Executive Director.
- Management of files and paperwork for administrative projects related to Accreditation.
- Attendance at all Board meetings, copying any documents for Board Members and producing Board minutes for the Executive Director, along with setting up technology for the meetings.
- Participate in Performance Quality Improvement, especially in regard to analysis of data.
- Work well in a union environment
- Actively participate in agency meetings, take minutes, create agendas and adhere to all agency policies and procedures
- Assist the current management team with hiring, onboarding, training and terminating of employees and volunteers. May be required to supervise employees and volunteers as tasked by the management team.
- Perform other related duties as required by Executive Director
Preferred Skills
- Excellent verbal, written and word processing skills
- Maintain accuracy and a high level of quality output
- Exceptional time management skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software
- Work well in a team environment, but also be a self-starter
Additional:
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR is an asset
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- A reliable vehicle is mandatory.

*Yin Yoga – Every Monday 6-7 PM
The main goal of Yin Yoga is to open joints, stretch deep tissue and release deep, long held emotion. In Yin Yoga we learn how to better listen to our bodies, by allowing ourselves to slow down enough to listen to the clues from the unconscious mind of what is actually going on we learn everything we need to know.
Note: You will want to have a few pillows (couch, bed or throw pillows will work fine), as well as a blanket or two to ensure you are nice and comfy as well as fully supported for your practice.
*Restorative Yoga – Every Wednesday 7:30-8:30 PM
Restorative Yoga is designed to provide support and help the body relax. Often referred to as active relaxation we learn to fully support our physical bodies in order to allow for a gentle opening and softening in to relaxation.
Note: You will want to have a few pillows (couch, bed or throw pillows will work fine), as well as a blanket or two to ensure you are nice and comfy as well as fully supported for your practice
*Hatha Yoga, Breath & Mindfulness Meditation – Every Thursday 9:30-10:30 AM
Whether you’re seeking stress relief, improved flexibility, or simply a moment of tranquility in your busy day and life, these classes will provide a nurturing space for you to unwind and connect with yourself from a space of kindness and compassion.
This program was designed to support you in developing a better connection to the body while also getting a break from the mind. It is our hope that you will find some peace, relaxation and comfort during these sessions. There is no experience required.

City of Delta Pocket Guide to Emergency and Community Supports
The City of Delta has created a pocket guide with information about key emergency and community supports available in Delta for vulnerable populations (homeless, isolated seniors, those affected by substance use, etc.).
The ‘You Matter to Delta’ pocket guide was developed in collaboration with community partners and is intended to enhance community referrals, increase access to emergency community resources, and improve our collective awareness about them.

End the Stigma Community Forum

The End the Stigma Community Forum was held at North Delta Secondary on the evening of Wednesday April 13, 2022, to hear from leaders and advocates on the stigma of drug use and what needs to be done to stop the growing number of overdose deaths.
The forum featured a panel discussion and question-and-answer session on how to best support those suffering from addiction in Delta.
