Young Parent Outreach and Parenting Groups
Deltassist offers teen parents support, parenting education and mentoring.
Through our Young Parent Outreach program our counsellors are here to help young parents meet personal goals while encouraging healthy pregnancy and development of their children.
In addition to personal support we also help young parents acquire the infant supplies needed to care for a baby and connect them to other community resources that will prove helpful during their pregnancy and in raising their child.

Positive Parenting Workshops, for parents of children 5 to 12
No cost to Delta residents. A workshop for parents where they can enjoy meeting other parents, sharing stories and feeling empowered while learning and building on skills.
This workshop includes group sessions on:
• Attachment Parenting
• Goals of Behaviour/Misbehaviour
• Healthy Boundaries
• Discipline
• Budgeting
• Self-Care/Stress Management
• Ages & Stages of Development
Nobody’s Perfect Parenting workshops, for parents of children up to 5 years
Nobody’s Perfect Parenting is a free 6 week parenting group offered to parents with children age 5 years and under.
This group provides parents with a safe space to learn and build on their parenting skills while interacting with other parents who have same-aged children.
This group is offered 3 times a year, alternating between North and South Delta. The sessions cover useful information about children’s health, safety, development and behaviour. The program aims to support and encourage confidence in positive parenting and connection for isolated parents.
We are in the process of planning 2 groups to be run before the end of March 2024. Dates, times and location to be determined but if you are interested please email your name, phone number, ages of children and location of group preference (North Delta or Ladner) to suzyf@deltassist.com to be put on the list. As soon as details are finalized one of the facilitators will call to complete the intake process.
Child care is provided during these weekly, two hour sessions, usually held on Saturday mornings. Transportation assistance is also provided if necessary.
